Genesis 1:16

And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

1. God made two great sources of light for the earth - the sun and the moon.
2. The sun defines and is preeminent during the day; the moon is the most prominent source of light during the night.
3. God also made the stars.
