Genesis 3:12

And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
  1. Adam answered the LORD God's question, rather than clamming up and refusing to respond.
  2. Adam admitted to eating the "forbidden fruit".
  3. Adam's response makes it sound a little like he wanted to place part of the blame on the Lord and Eve. Either that or he was just stating how it played out. Actually, he could have done more to place the blame on Eve, so, perhaps, that wasn't really his motive. It's hard to tell for certain.
